Patriotic Beers to Fuel Your 4th of July

This Independence Day, raise a glass, bottle or can and indulge in summer's largest celebration with a craft beer. Sure to elicit 'oohs' and 'aahs' from everyone at your backyard BBQ (or dock party, or campsite), we're serving up the ultimate beer-playlist for your Fourth of July festivities. Cheers!

1. Rise by Revolution Brewing – If your palate is watering for notes of dark roasted coffee and baker’s chocolate, Rise is the brew for you. Brewed with Warrior hops for bitterness, a blend of Centennial and Cascade for a blast of fresh flowery hop aroma. After fermentation, the brewers hit this beer with a fresh dose of Centennial and Chinook dry hops to infuse the dark ale with fresh aromas of citrus zest and pine.

Style: Stout-American. ABV: 7.6%.

2. Pooltime Ale by Bell’s Brewery – Michiganders rejoice, this refreshing Belgian-inspired Wheat Ale is perfect for sipping poolside or during any summer activity. Pooltime’s fruity character comes from the distinguishing feature of Montmorency tart cherries grown and sourced from the Traverse City region. These locally grown cherries add a subtle tartness and bright counterpoint to the flavor, plus a hint of pink to the color of the beer.

Style: Wheat Beer – Witbier. ABV: 5.2%.

3.Crankin’ Foamers collab by Fair State Co-Op & Modern Times Beer – Looking for an easy-drinking, regular ‘ol slammer? We stumbled upon Crankin’ Foamers. A collaboration brew from Fair State Brewing Cooperative and Modern Times Beer. A traditional American lager made with real corn, the old-fashioned way.

Style: Lager - American. ABV: 4.5%.

4. Rocket Popsicle Hard Seltzer by Untitled Art - Who said rocket popsicles were just for kids? Parents, walk down memory lane when you indulge in Untitled Art’s Rocket Popsicle Hard Seltzer. 5. Samuel Adams Boston Lager - Thirsty for a classic beer for a classic day of 4th of July festivities? Look no further than the beer that started it all for Samuel Adams, the Boston Lager. This full-bodied, complex and undeniably delicious beer, to this day, is brewed with the same recipe that Jim Koch used in 1984. The brewers at Sam Adams hand-select only the finest ingredients to create this perfectly balanced, revolutionary beer. Boasting in rich, toasty, malty aromas with a touch of caramel and a dash of floral hops. Pair this clean lager with a juicy burger and you’re set for 4th of July success.

Style: Vienna Lager. ABV: 5.0%.

6. Oil of Gladness collab by Dark Horse Brewing Co. & 3 Floyds Brewing - A taste of American history, Dark Horse Brewing Co. and 3 Floyds Brewing collaborated in the making of this black barleywine-style ale. The tribute beer pays homage to the Infantry Brigade of the Union Army during the US Civil War known as “The Iron Brigade”. The nickname “Oil of Gladness” was coined by the brave men brewing beer out on the warpath. When you sip on this beer, enjoy all the oily, juicy, piney citrus aroma and flavors. With no less than 7 different malts and grains in the mash, Oil of Gladness lends a deceptively smooth malt flavor with a hop presence.

Style: Black Barleywine Ale. ABV: 11%.

7. Enjoy by 07.04.22 by Stone Brewing – For the hop heads, this edition of Stone Brewing’s brewed-to-be-enjoyed-now beer is a fruitfully fresh IPA loaded with real tangerine and pineapple for maximized summer celebrations. Crack it as soon as you get home or hold onto it to savor under a sky full of fireworks.

Style: Double IPA. ABV: 9%.

8. Jefferson’s Golden Ale by Yards Brewing Company – Yards Brewing, one of the most recognizable and long-standing American Craft Breweries, is known for leaning heavily on British and early American brewing traditions. Paying tribute to our Founding Father and fellow brewer, Thomas Jefferson, Yards Brewing Company recreated his recipe employing honey, rye and wheat, just like the beers brewed at Monticello during his time. While this strong golden ale is easily drinkable, it is stronger than your average ale making it more of a slow-sipper.

Style: Strong Golden Ale. ABV: 8%.
